How to host a website temporarily

Three steps, about a minute, no credit card. The same steps keep a site online for good on Plus and Pro.

What you can put online

  1. 1

Drop your site onto the dashboard

Drop a single HTML file, a ZIP or your whole site folder onto the dashboard. A ZIP asks one question first: pick ZIP to site to host it.

A ZIP file dragged onto the dplooy dashboard drop zone
  2. 2

    Pick an address and deploy

Choose your name.dplooy.com address and press Deploy. The dialog shows the Free plan's 3-day limit before you commit.

The ZIP to site dialog with the site address, the Deploy button and the Free plan's 3-day note
  3. 3

Share the link for 3 days

Send the https:// link to whoever needs to see it. It stays live for 3 days and then switches itself off, so there is nothing to remember to take down.

What happens after 3 days

A temporary site switches itself off on a fixed schedule, and nothing goes without a warning first.

  1. Day 0

    Live

Your site is online at name.dplooy.com with SSL. Share the link with anyone.

  2. Day 3

    Goes offline

Visitors see a “This site has expired” page. Your files are kept, and you get an email the day before.

  3. Day 10

    Files removed

Seven days later the files are deleted for good, after one more email the day before.

Changed your mind? Upgrade any time before day 10 and the site comes back at the same address, and never expires.

A demo for a meeting
Put the prototype online for the call, then let it expire on its own.
A page an AI made for you
Show a page from ChatGPT or Claude to someone without setting anything up.
Weekend events
A one-off page for a sale, a party or a pop-up that only needs to exist this week.
Testing before launch
Check the site on a real https address and real phones before it goes live.
Class and hackathon projects
Hand in a working link for a project that is graded and done.

Temporary website hosting: questions

Is there free temporary website hosting?

Yes. dplooy's Free plan is temporary website hosting: each site stays online for 3 days, you can have 3 at once, and there is no credit card. Every site gets its own https://name.dplooy.com address with SSL.

How long does a temporary site stay online?

3 days from the moment you deploy it. After that visitors see a "This site has expired" page, and the files are removed 7 days later. dplooy emails you the day before each step.

Can I host a website temporarily without signing up?

You need a free dplooy account. It takes about a minute with Google or email, and no credit card is asked for. The account is what lets you see your site's views, delete it early, or keep it.

Can I keep my temporary site?

Yes. Upgrade to Plus ($4.99/mo) or Pro ($12.99/mo) any time before the files are removed, and the site comes back at the same address and never expires.

Can I take a temporary site down early?

Yes. Delete it from your dashboard whenever you are done. You don't have to wait for the 3 days to run out.

What can I host temporarily?

A single HTML file, a ZIP, or a whole site folder with its CSS, JavaScript, images and fonts. Up to 5 MB per file on the Free plan. PDFs and images can be shared as a file link too.

Does a temporary site get HTTPS?

Yes. Every site is served over https:// on its dplooy.com address, with the certificate set up for you.

Can I password-protect a preview?

Password protection is part of Plus and Pro, where sites don't expire. On the Free plan a site is public to anyone who has the link.
