Put Your Site OnYour Own Domain

Point a domain you already own at any project. We verify it, serve the root and www together, and provision SSL automatically — so customers see your name, not ours.

A subdomain is fine. Until it isn't.

Every project starts on a dplooy.com address, and for a side project that's plenty. The moment it goes on a business card, it starts working against you.

yourname.dplooy.com
  • Your address advertises someone else's brand
  • Customers can't guess it from your business name
  • Backlinks and reputation build under our domain
  • Moving hosts later means changing your public URL
yourdomain.com
  • The address is your business name, nothing else
  • It matches the email address you already hand out
  • Search authority accrues to a name you own
  • You can change hosts one day without changing the URL

Four steps, about five minutes

The dashboard walks you through it and gives you the exact values to paste. The only waiting is DNS propagation.

01

Add the domain

Open the project, choose Custom Domain and type the domain you own — root only, no www and no https://.

02

Prove it's yours

We hand you a TXT record to paste at your registrar. Nobody can point a domain at a site they don't control.

03

Point the DNS

Add an A record on the root and a CNAME on www — both shown with copy buttons and the exact values.

04

SSL arrives

As soon as DNS resolves we issue the certificate and keep renewing it. You never touch it again.

Three records. Copy, paste, done.

This is the whole DNS side of it. Your exact values are issued per domain and shown with copy buttons in the dashboard — this is the shape of it, so you know what you're in for.

What's handled for you

The fiddly parts of running a domain are the parts we automate.

Root and www together

yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com both serve the site. No redirect rules to write, nothing to keep in sync.

SSL, issued and renewed

The certificate is provisioned once DNS resolves and renewed automatically. You never buy, install or think about it.

Verified ownership

One TXT record proves the domain is yours before it goes live — the same check that stops anyone else claiming it.

Your subdomain still works

The original yourname.dplooy.com address keeps serving the site, so existing links and QR codes never break.

Search sees one site

Your pages get indexed under your own name, which is where backlinks and brand searches should land.

Your email is untouched

You only change records that route website traffic. MX records and everything else stay exactly as they are.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to buy a domain from you?

No, and you can't — we're not a registrar. Bring a domain you already own from GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare or anywhere else. If you don't have one yet, buy it wherever you like and then point it here.

Which plan includes custom domains?

Pro. Free and Plus projects run on a yourname.dplooy.com subdomain with free SSL; connecting your own domain is a Pro feature. If a Pro subscription ends, the custom domain is disconnected and the site keeps serving on its dplooy.com address.

How long does it take?

The setup itself takes a couple of minutes. After that you're waiting on DNS propagation, usually minutes but occasionally a few hours depending on your registrar and the TTL on your records. SSL is issued automatically once the records resolve.

Do I have to choose between the root domain and www?

No. You enter the root domain and we serve both it and the www version. That's why setup asks for two records — an A record on the root and a CNAME on www.

Will this break my email?

No. You're only adding or changing records that route website traffic, plus one TXT record for verification. MX records, which handle your email, are left alone. If your registrar warns about an existing A record or URL redirect on the root, that's the old website pointer and it's the one being replaced.

Can I move the domain to a different project later?

Yes. Remove it from the first project and add it to another. You'll verify ownership again, which is deliberate — it's what keeps a domain from being silently reassigned.

What if my DNS is behind Cloudflare?

That works. Add the same records in Cloudflare's DNS panel. If verification or SSL stalls, set those records to DNS only rather than proxied, so our checks and certificate issuance can see the real destination.

You already own the name

Build the site free, then point your domain at it whenever you're ready.
